Report Back
Warmer homes, lower
fuel bills
DOROTHY has made protecting our
environment a key priority of her term
of office.
The council’s latest initiative is
a partnership with energy company
Powergen to enable residents to get
their homes insulated at significantly
reduced rates or free of charge. From
February, energy advisers will be
visiting every home in Watford, as part
of a three-year programme to find out
what insulation work is needed.
Residents will be able to get loft and
cavity wall insulation, and in some
cases new boilers, at huge discounts.
For pensioners and those on benefits
the work will be done free of charge.
Dorothy says: ‘This is good news
for local people. It is a chance for
everyone to get the insulation they
need to keep their homes warmer in
the winter. It will also help residents
keep their fuel bills in check at a time
of rising fuel costs.’
