Colosseum – planning
a brighter future
THE collapse of the company that ran the Colosseum was bad news.
For the past ten years it had been run separately as a purely commercial
operation.
Dorothy says: ‘In the end the company were asking for a large
public subsidy to stay afloat and continue to run the venue. We couldn’t
use public money in that way without testing the market to see
what other options are open for the Colosseum.’
The council has ensured that in the short
term at least some events will still go ahead. Consultation is
now taking place
on future
options, which will be presented to the Council’s Cabinet
late this year.
