Battle
over Watford General
DOROTHY says: ‘I am proud to
have played a part in persuading the health authority to choose
Watford General to be the main hospital
for West Herts.
‘
It’s disappointing that Hemel Hempstead campaigners are
challenging the decision, but it shows what a fight we had on
our hands. I was
struck by the hostility to Watford shown by those supporting
Hemel Hempstead at the meeting where both sides presented their
case. This
particularly related to access issues.
‘ By linking the future plans for the hospital
with the Cardiff Road regeneration, we can give the hospital more
space to improve its
facilities.
‘
I remain confident that the health authority’s decision
was the right one and that Watford offers the best option
to be the main
hospital
for the area.
