Watford Junction
taxis
THE change in taxi provision from Hackney carriages to private
hire vehicles at Watford Junction is a decision of the train company
Silverlink,
not Watford Borough Council.
It is up to Silverlink who they allow to work on their forecourt
providing taxi services. Watford Council’s role is as the licensing authority.
Only Hackney carriages can ‘ply for hire’, so the
council has to make sure AA United are not doing this. This can
be involve
difficult legal interpretations and is the reason customers have
to get a ticket in advance.
The Council is carrying out its legal duties thoroughly to make
sure that the law is being adhered to.
