Dear
Resident
Once again, Watford has the lowest percentage
increase in Hertfordshire at just 2.7 per cent. Unfortunately,
Herts County Council and the Police Authority look set to be
rather higher.
At the recent Budget Council, I was surprised that neither
Labour nor the Conservatives had any proposals of their own.
Only three of the eight Labour councillors turned up to vote.
The Conservative leader wanted massive cuts, which would
have meant closing major facilities like, say, the Palace
Theatre
or Central Baths.
We have budgeted to
do things more efficiently. We have only cut back on activities
where there was low usage and/or
duplication
in service. The impact of cuts will be negligible, but
the impact of investing in better core services will
be significant!
With best wishes
