For the first time in four years…
Council’s
accounts get clean bill of health
DOROTHY has kept her manifesto pledge to sort out the council’s
accounts.
For the first time in four years the District
Auditor has approved the council’s accounts. Dorothy says: ‘This is a big
step forward – the result of a lot of hard work.’
Under Labour, the council’s finance
systems fell apart so the auditor could not sign off the accounts.
The Lib Dem budget for the council means Watford Council has
kept the rise in its share of Council Tax to just 2.7 per
cent. Unfortunately,
the Conservative run county council is likely to set a higher
increase, as is the police authority.
Dorothy says: ‘I am committed to running
a tight ship and giving value for money, while protecting services
to the public.
