About the Elected Mayor
As Elected Mayor, Dorothy is the political leader of Watford Borough Council, and one of just 12 Elected Mayors in Britain.
The Elected Mayor is the principal spokesperson on the Council's behalf and provides political direction to the Council. She proposes an annual budget and policy framework which Full Council debate and approve. The Mayor is responsible for the effective implementation of Council policy and delivering services.
Dorothy has executive powers with authority to delegate work and has done so through the appointment of four cabinet members, one of whom is also Deputy Mayor.
As Elected Mayor, Dorothy represents Watford Borough Council on a local, national and international platform, serving on a number of Outside Bodies, including the Local Government Association and the East of England Regional Assembly.
