Paul Goggins is married
with one son. He has lived in Abbots Langley for 38
years. He was a Civil Servant with the Department of
Employment, retiring as a Senior Principal. He has
been a Three Rivers District Councillor for 18 years,
a County Councillor for 16, Chairman of the District
1988-89 and Vice Chairman of the County 1997-2000.
He has chaired many Committees both at County Hall
and for Three Rivers Council and is currently Pensioners’ Champion
of Three Rivers. At County, he is the Lib Dem spokesman
for Resources, which includes finance, personnel, property
and investment.
Paul is well known and respected
in Abbots Langley where he is President of the Liberal
Democrats, President of the Gardening Society, Chairman
of the Society of Performing Arts and Chairman of
the Leavesden Transport Forum. He is a member of
the Churches Together Executive Committee, the local
drama group, Gilbert & Sullivan Society, History
Society and of both The Hillside and Gade View/Rosehill
Gardens Residents Associations.
Among his achievements locally, Paul
has secured extra classrooms at two primary schools
and a nursery at two others, he has helped with numerous
traffic calming measures, rationalisation of library
opening hours and the relocation of the Waste Disposal
Unit from Hunton Bridge to Waterdale. Many local
residents will testify to the assistance Paul has
given them over the years in attempt to solve their
personal problems.
Not wishing to rest on his laurels,
Paul intends, if re-elected, to continue serving
the electorate to the best of his ability. In particular,
he will strive to get the best possible deals for
the local community from property developers, such
as extra school places and traffic calming.
