It's Lib Dems verses Labour in Watford Constituency
Conservatives collapse across the Constituency - losing five out of six council seats to the Lib Dems.
The Local and European elections on 10th June showed that only the Lib Dems can win in the Watford constituency from Labour.
Lib Dems win 15 out of 17 seats...
The Conservatives lost five of the six council seats they were defending, including former strongholds. The Liberal Democrats won 15 of the 17 Three Rivers and Watford council seats in the constituency, gaining seats from Labour and the Conservatives.
...and finished top in Euro-vote
In the European elections the Liberal Democrats also polled more votes than any other party in the Watford constituency.
Lib Dem parliamentary spokeswoman Sal Brinton said:
‘The Conservatives are now clearly out of the running in Watford. Dorothy Thornhill beat Labour in the Mayoral election and the Lib Dems toppled Labour from control of Watford Council. Only the Liberal Democrats can beat Watford’s Labour MP.’
